Thank you for your interest in Amici Curiae (Friends of Court) Legal Forms Workshop. Our pro bono service is powered by legal professionals: paralegals, lawyers, law students, administrative assistants, internationally trained lawyers, dispute resolution practitioners, accountants and librarians. We assist the public in completing legal forms, and preparing for their virtual appearance before the courts and tribunals. We do not provide summary legal advice nor take conduct of the client's files.
Team Assistant Role
Team Assistants perform administrative tasks to support the Team Leader during client sessions. These may include completing AC's Client Session Records, looking up the correct form, researching authorities, calling Supervising Lawyer to attend, and in many cases listening to clients while the Team Leader is drafting a form.
Scheduling and Cancellation
Periodically, we provide you a schedule of workshops using Survey Monkey. You select dates that work for you. Book as much or as little as you are comfortable with. We will inform you of your assignment.
Approximately 6 days prior to the assigned date, we will provide you with a client roster, for you to do a conflicts check.
Volunteers, to be assigned, they are expected to respond by the deadline provided in the email if they have any conflicts.
How to Apply
Read and sign our Volunteer Application Package, email it along with your CV to Jenny Ho, our deputy executive director.
Once you are accepted, our volunteer coordinator will arrange for you to observe workshops that interest you. Once done we can connect again.
